
Dr. Joshua Nhat-Nam Dang earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the California University of Science and Medicine in 2025 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at the University of Washington. Throughout his medical training, he developed a strong interest in research, community service, and patient-centered care, with experience spanning ophthalmology, infectious disease, medical education, and global health initiatives.
Dr. Dang has contributed extensively to clinical and translational research through positions at the USC Roski Eye Institute of Keck School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital. His work focused on ocular inflammation, infectious uveitis, and pediatric retinal imaging, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences including ARVO, AAPOS, and Advances in Pediatric Retina. His research achievements earned him several honors, including National Eye Institute and National Institutes of Health travel grants, as well as the Scholars Presentation and Dissemination Initiative Award.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Dang has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to service and mentorship. He volunteered as a medical interpreter in Vietnam with the Medical Education Exchange Teams and Pediatric Surgery Delegation, helping facilitate care, surgical education, and healthcare partnerships for underserved communities. He has also served as a peer mentor, microbiology instructor, vaccine volunteer during the COVID-19 pandemic, and volunteer with organizations including the American Red Cross and Kaiser Permanente.
Fluent in English, Vietnamese, French, and Spanish/Spanish Creole, Dr. Dang values cultural connection and compassionate communication in patient care. His diverse experiences in research, education, and global health continue to shape his dedication to providing empathetic, evidence-based medical care to the communities he serves.
