Director of Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine Residency Program

Dr. David T. Asher is a Board-Certified physician in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine with over 25 years of experience in clinical practice, leadership, and community health. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University, San Bernardino, and his Doctor of Medicine from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his residency in Family Practice at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he developed a strong foundation in comprehensive, patient-centered care.

As the Medical Director and owner of Asher Family Care, Dr. Asher served for more than two decades, providing longitudinal care to diverse populations with a focus on accessibility and quality. His clinical expertise is complemented by his military service as a Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He attained the rank of Major and further deepened his experience in high-stakes, team-based care settings.

As Director of Addiction Medicine and core faculty for the Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Asher leads curriculum and training efforts related to substance use disorders, behavioral health, and integrated primary care. He is deeply committed to Resident education, health equity, and preparing the next generation of family physicians to serve with skill, integrity, and compassion.
